The Imperials Have “No Shortage” On Talent

The Imperials took the platform Sunday Night to a crowd of over 450. The current group- Jason Morales (Baritone), Jeremie Hudson (Tenor), Ian Owens (Bass), and newcomer Scott Allen (Lead) sounded great and were very well received by the congregation. The concert started off with “It’s A Beautiful Day” then included more traditional southern gospel tunes such as “First Day in Heaven”, “Because He Lives”, and classics “No Shortage” . The second set included “Water Grave” (which brought the crowd to their feet), “Praise the Lord”, “Arise My Love” and several others. The concert was about 90 minutes and included a good mix of styles. I must admit I was surprised they didn’t sing their current single, “We’ve Got a Great Big Wonderful God”. That song is a sugar stick for the group. Many songs were off of the Back to the Roots project which just received an award for album of the year.

The MC work was split between Ian and Jeremie which seem to work well for the group. Scott, from my understanding, is just filling in for the group although the time frame is still undetermined. He really seemed to fit well vocally and was very effective with his particular style. Scot and Jeremie seemed to work very well together. I hope Scot decides to stay for a while—he’s a great addition to their sound.

These men are passionate about ministry. The spirit in which they ministered is becoming a lesser known quality in gospel music. As far as I’m concerned, the ministry of the Imperials is still going on strong!
